Russets honor Ron Gutke as a super fan with Bob Kirkham Award

SHELLEY – Shelley awarded Ron Gutke, their biggest fan, with the Bob Kirkham Award at their last home game in the Cellar, February 11.

Ron Gutke has no children living in Shelley and no grandchildren playing sports at Shelley High School.  But, whether it be rain, snow, or bitter cold, Ron Gutke is there to root on the Russet players.

The Bob Kirkham Award was created in 2014 by Shelley High School student Erin Durbin.  She noticed Bob, throughout the years, was always at the sporting events cheering on the Russets.   She felt he deserved some recognition for his avid support.  Hence, the Bob Kirkham Award was created for other loyal fans who support the Russets.

“I just love watching Russet sports, especially games like tonight,” Gutke said while watching the Russets bear Skyline in a close district playoff game at the Cellar last night, February 16.

So, Congratulation to Ron Gutke, Shelley Russets’ biggest super fan!
