Fire destroys camper parked in Broulim’s parking lot

SHELLEY — A fire broke out inside a camper trailer parked in the Broulim’s parking lot, destroying it.

According to law enforcement, shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday, an individual traveling through Shelley stopped in the Broulim’s parking lot to purchase some food. He reportedly planned to head to the North Bingham County Park to hook up his camper trailer.

“So the gentleman pulled in there to Broulim’s. He was going to get something to eat and drink. He kicked the stove on to heat (the camper trailer) up. He came back out and it was engulfed,” Shelley Police Seargent Robert Tincher told Community Pioneer.

The call about the fire came in at 2:47 p.m. Tincher said Shelley firefighters put the fire out and the scene was cleared within 20 minutes.

No one was injured and the fire didn’t cause any other damage.

“Everything was confined to the trailer. It about got up to the truck but luckily the fire department got there and got it doused before it started getting too far that way,” Tincher said.
